From Chip to Platform: Enabling Scalable Edge AI with SoMs and Production Linux
Opis#
Edge AI development is no longer just about selecting the right processor ,it is about building a scalable platform that can move from prototype to secure, large-scale deployment. As AI moves from proof-of-concept systems to real-world products, teams must manage the full stack: hardware platforms, operating systems, security, device provisioning, and long-term lifecycle management across thousands or even millions of devices. In this talk, we explore how a complete Edge AI platform ecosystem enables faster development and reliable deployment. We focus on System-on-Module (SoM) platforms from Virtium and Grinn, which integrate powerful AI processors such as DEEPX to accelerate prototyping and simplify hardware design. These platforms allow development teams to move quickly from early experimentation to production-ready systems. We also discuss the importance of a robust production software stack. Using Peridio’s Avocado OS, a production-ready Linux platform designed for embedded systems, teams can manage device provisioning, security updates, and over-the-air
